A vital role in preparing the present or future workforce for the digital and green transformation is played by Higher Education Institutions. This bulletin published by the OECD, and funded by the European Union, proposes some best practices and strategies to be implemented by HEIs.

First and foremost, HEIs need to periodically update their curricula to better reflect the actual competencies that will be used by students in their future career. However, policy-makers need to collaborate in this process by signaling the competencies that need to be developed. Moreover, public authorities can encourage partnerships and collaborations between HEIs and Industry to better develop the curricula to suit both educational and occupational needs.

The bulletin is structured as follows:

  • Section 1 illustrates ways to encourage competencies development

  • Section 2 showcases some strategies for HEI

  • Section 3 brings forward some key points from an international peer learning workshop
