The Training Support Grant is designed for all currently unemployed job-seekers in Ireland who have identified some particular digital skills gap or need to obtain specific certification.

The programme aims to fund quick access to short term training or related interventions, obtain or renew certification and permits for individual job seekers that have identified work opportunities or where Case Officers have identified an immediate skills gap that represents an obstacle to taking up a job offer.

Any jobseeker, registered with the local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare Branch Office.

Financing conditions

A job-seeker should apply to the Case Officer who will make a decision based on the following conditions:

  • the course level (not above 6 on the QQI);
  • the necessary training is not provided directly by the state providers (such as Department of Social Protection, Solas/ETB's, Teagasc);
  • the intervention identified is linked to both the activation needs of the jobseeker and labour market conditions;
  • the intervention sought by the jobseeker forms part of the agreed personal progression or action plan to enter or re-enter the labour market;
  • the jobseeker has provided reasonable evidence or grounds of need or an identified skill gap or a requirement to maintain or achieve accreditation.
