Media and Digital Literacy MOOC

This course, offered through the Open Virtual Mobility Learning Hub, provides participants with a foundational understanding of digital media and concepts related to digital literacy. The Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) also focuses on enhancing the ability of learners to use and exploit digital skills resources in an effective way, and learn in a digital environment.
Who is this course for?
The Media and Digital Literacy MOOC targets university students, offering an opportunity to boost digital skills and understanding of digital literacy and key digital skills, such as content creation, online communication, or the ability of ensuring digital privacy. It can also be useful for teachers as a repository with resources to serve as inspiration for embedding digital technology in teaching methods and learning from good practices in the field. Participants will learn how to search for relevant courses and resources in order to gain the digital skills they need to progress, use the best tools for online communication, and assess the quality of information, retrieved online.
Before starting the course, learners need to take a quiz, which assesses their skills level and assigns them to the relevant programme: foundation, intermediate, or advanced. For each difficulty level, course materials include open access to e-books, PDF documents, reports and text material, videos, and many other learning activities.
