FHNW Institute for Interactive Technologies
The Institute for Interactive Technologies (FHNW Institute for Interactive Technologies) is a multidisciplinary computer science institute at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.
It is also part of the University's School of Engineering and the coordinator for the SME SEC project - 'Protecting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises digital technology through an innovative cyber-SECurity framework'. SME SEC is a three-year multi-disciplinary innovation action co-funded by the European Commission and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation in the context of Horizon2020, the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation
The computer science institute takes part in teaching under the framework of the University's Computer Science degree program and its specialisations. FHNW Institute for Interactive Technologies also works in close collaboration with a wide range of partners across industrial sectors in the design and development of innovative methods in requirements engineering. In addition, the organisation is active in the design of new digital interfaces and interactive environments, the development of immersive spaces, and insight analysis through intelligent data visualisation.
FHNW Institute for Interactive Technologies focuses on the promotion and development of three competencies or specialisation:
- Requirements Engineering: methods, tools and approaches for understanding and satisfying individual and organisational needs and requirements.
- Computer graphics: Visual computing techniques, resources and tools to support information visualisation, architecture skills, and serious gaming.
- Design and technology: User Experience (UX) design and development, human computer interaction (HCI), information visualisation and visual analytics, Virtual/Augmented and Mixed Reality (VR/AR/MR).
The FHNW School of Engineering offers degree programmes in Engineering, Computer Science, Leadership and Optometry, and promotes excellence in research and the generation of knowledge and solutions for industry and businesses.
