Politehnica University of Bucharest Inaugurates Modern Hitachi Rail Research Centre

The Faculty of Transport at the Politehnica University of Bucharest has inaugurated the Hitachi Rail Research Centre, a cutting-edge facility developed in partnership with Hitachi Rail GTS Romania. This new hub aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by focusing on applied research, technological development, and the training of future specialists in intelligent rail transport.

Equipped with state-of-the-art digital and conventional signalling technologies, the centre provides students and researchers with a hands-on environment to simulate and test real-world railway operations. It allows learners to engage directly with modern signalling systems, including intelligent traffic control tools, fostering practical experience that complements theoretical knowledge.

The centre will specialize in digital railway systems, signalling technologies, and automation, preparing engineers for the evolving demands of the global market. University representatives highlight this initiative as a major step in supporting innovation and the technological modernization of the rail sector across Romania and Europe.
