GreenShift is a market-led Joint European Master’s Programme focused on how artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) can accelerate greener transport and mobility. Its aim is to speed up research, development, and product innovation so European startups, SMEs, companies, and public bodies can design and deploy smarter, lower carbon mobility solutions.
GreenShift will tackle a growing skills gap in the sector. It will aim to train more than 1,500 professionals and graduates through an accredited master’s degree at EQF level 7, plus flexible upskilling routes such as micro-credentials, standalone modules, and short courses. Learning is built around practical industry use cases, with boostcamps, hackathons, and innovation challenges supported by a shared digital learning platform across the consortium.
About the GreenShift project: GreenShift will establish a pioneering, market-led master’s Programme in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and High-Performance Computing (HPC) for Green Digital Innovation in Transport. The programme will leverage AI and HPC to transform research, development, and innovation in transport, empowering European Startups, SMEs, and municipalities to create sustainable, intelligent mobility solutions. GreenShift directly contributes to achieving Europe’s NetZero targets by 2050 by accelerating the decarbonisation of cities and transport networks.
The European transport sector urgently needs green transformation to meet challenging emissions targets. GreenShift addresses this by equipping more than 1500 professionals and graduates with practical skills to harness AI and HPC in developing cutting-edge products, systems, and solutions for the mobility sector. This unique programme will build capacity in Startups and SMEs, overcoming technological barriers, enhancing R&D, and fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and research institutions.
GreenShift offers a 9-month full-time or 12-month part-time Master’s (60 ECTS) with flexible micro-credentials and self-standing modules for professionals. Training includes Innovation challenges and hackathons to deliver practical, industry-relevant skills. The programme also includes capacity building for universities, fostering collaboration and resource sharing to attract top teaching staff.
The Consortium is led by the National College of Ireland, GreenShift unites 14 partners and 2 associated partners across nine countries, integrating expertise in AI, HPC, and sustainable transport innovation. GreenShift aims to upskill over one thousand professionals, enabling SMEs, Startups, and municipalities to lead the green digital transition in transport through advanced digital skills.
