The purpose of the Centers for Interdisciplinary Assessment, Counseling and Support (Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports in Greece) is to support students, school units and Laboratory Centers in their area of responsibility to ensure equal access to education for all, including students, and to defend the harmonious their psychosocial development and progress. For the issues, for which exclusive competence is reserved to the KE.D.A.S.Y., other public services or bodies do not have competence.
The KE.D.A.S.Y. have the exclusive authority to recommend the classification, registration, transfer and attendance in the appropriate school unit of students with disabilities or special educational needs, as well as for the appropriate context of individualized support, i.e. parallel support or attendance in an integration department in a school unit of general education .
The KE.D.A.S.Y. recommend special programs for the transition of students of all types and levels of education to another type or level, in collaboration with the school units of origin and reception of the students, in which the parents or guardians of the students can also participate. KE.D.A.S.Y. carry out individual evaluations and issue evaluation reports for students in various cases. The KE.D.A.S.Y. in addition to cases of individual evaluation and support, they also investigate requests submitted by the teachers' associations of the school units and concerning issues of their responsibilities. These requests are accompanied by the relevant minutes of the teachers' association, which includes the documentation of the necessity of the relevant intervention on the part of KE.D.A.S.Y., a descriptive report of the measures taken by the school unit for the subject intervention and related outcomes.
