The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programmes across engineering, natural sciences, economics and management, providing degrees that integrate foundational theory with practical skills to prepare students for diverse careers in technology and innovation. Its research strength is reflected in numerous national and international projects, its network of National Laboratories and industry-oriented innovation centres that drive fundamental and applied research and knowledge transfer. BME maintains strong partnerships with industry leaders - for example in 5G/6G networks and smart systems - fostering joint research and development that accelerates real-world applications and commercialisation of technologies. Through its Center for University-Industry Cooperation (FIEK) it orchestrates collaboration between SME-s, multinational companies, students and researchers to support digitalisation and industry 4.0 readiness. BME faculty and students contribute to advancing digital transformation and computing technologies across sectors, including artificial intelligence, data science, cloud computing and telecommunication systems, and participate in initiatives to embed ethical, human-centred perspectives into responsible AI. The university’s engagement with external partners such as national banks, businesses and academic networks helps equip graduates with relevant skills while addressing emerging cybersecurity risks through interdisciplinary research and curricula that emphasise secure digital infrastructures. Collectively, these efforts reinforce BME’s role as a hub where education, cutting-edge research and industry collaboration intersect to confront technological challenges and advance Hungary’s digital economy.
