DigiQ is a Slovak civic association dedicated to promoting digital citizenship, protecting human rights online, and contributing to a safer internet. Established in 2017 in Bratislava, digiQ currently brings together a core team of ten members working on a full- and part-time basis, supported by up to twenty external collaborators.
The organisation’s vision is an active, digitally literate, and critically engaged public. DigiQ focuses on digital citizenship and the protection of human rights in online environments, applying a participatory, solution-oriented approach that actively involves target groups in addressing societal challenges. Rather than relying on alarmist narratives and fear-mongering, digiQ prioritises constructive responses that build resilience, understanding, and practical skills.
DigiQ operates across both prevention and intervention. Preventive activities include workshops, lectures, and awareness-raising initiatives aimed at primary and secondary school students, teachers, non-formal education practitioners, parents, and employers. digiPEERS is a nationwide educational volunteer program designed for individuals aged 14 to 19. Participants gain expertise in digital citizenship, internet safety, media literacy, and critical thinking, which they subsequently impart to their peers in their respective regions through peer education. Cyber4Kids through which more than 18 000 have been trained is an educational initiative designed for primary and secondary schools, grounded in the principles of non-formal education. Educators instruct students on topics such as digital citizenship, the prevention of hate speech and disinformation, the promotion of critical thinking, digital balance, internet safety, and personal data protection. Digital Citizen is a pragmatic educational initiative designed for seniors, aimed at fostering responsible engagement with technology. It primarily focuses on practical challenges that seniors encounter in their daily lives.
Intervention activities are delivered primarily through the Report.to! platform, which enables the reporting of harmful and illegal online content. Cooperation with law enforcement is being further developed within the framework of a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Slovak police.
DigiQ is an EC-designated Monitoring Reporter, Trusted flagger (as of March 2026) for all major social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and TikTok, and since its establishment has participated in all hate speech monitoring activities under the Code of Conduct on tackling illegal hate speech between the European Commission and IT companies. DigiQ is a member of VRAX, an intergovernmental body tasked to fight all forms of extremism; media literacy platform run by the Slovak Media Services Council - Media Literacy+; and INACH, Facing Facts, Zero Hate and EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalization on the European level.
