It is responsible for finance and federal finances, including budget and tax policy, economic and structural policy and customs.Since May 2022, Florian Tursky has been attached to the BMF as Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Telecommunications. The central management of the BMF is divided into the following sections:Section I – Financial Management and ServicesSection II – BudgetSection III – Economic Policy, Financial Markets and CustomsSection IV – Tax Policy and Tax LawSection V – Digitalisation and e-GovernmentSection VI – Telecommunications, Post and MiningSection V Digitalisation and e-Government manages Austria’s digital transformation and coordinates related strategies (digitalisation strategy, artificial intelligence strategy, data strategy) and platforms/services (oesterreich.gv.at, the mobile app “Digitales Amt” or the business service portal USP).It has the following purpose:Strategically drive digitalisation in AustriaDevelop e-government solutionsComprehensively improve digital skillsSecuring legal bases for digitalised administration Examples of measures taken by the BMF in the field of digitalisation:Digital Action Plan AustriaIn order to develop digital skills in Austria in a targeted way, the Digital Action Plan established a vision and sectoral strategies that address digital skills in different contexts, such as tourism.Digital finance educationAs a central measure under the National Financial Education Strategy, the BMF, in cooperation with the Austrian National Bank, is developing an online financial education portal. This portal is intended to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for information on financial education and financial decisions in Austria.Reference to the offers of the Federal Finance AcademyThe Federal Finance Academy’s mission is to develop and offer strategic and needs-based training measures. The educational opportunities are referenced in accordance with the National Reference Framework.
