School of Advanced Professional Studies (Ulm University and Ulm University of Applied Sciences)

chool of Advanced Professional Studies (SAPS) – Ulm University and Ulm University of Applied Sciences

The School of Advanced Professional Studies (SAPS) is the joint center for continuing academic and professional education at Ulm University and Ulm University of Applied Sciences. It is designed for graduates and working professionals who want to continue their education while remaining employed full-time.

SAPS offers fee-based, part-time Master’s degree programmes, certificate programmes and microcredentials. Its study model is highly flexible and modular, allowing learners to begin with individual microcredentials and gradually build toward a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS), Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS), or a full Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree. Previously completed microcredentials can be credited toward a later Master’s programme.

The teaching concept is based on blended learning: approximately 80% of the programme consists of guided online self-study, while about 20% involves on-campus attendance or synchronous teaching sessions. This structure makes it especially suitable for professionals balancing studies with work, family responsibilities, and personal commitments. Students can largely decide their own study pace, module sequence, and semester workload.

SAPS provides programmes in areas such as Artificial Intelligence for Connected Industries, Business Analytics, Actuarial Sciences, Instructional Design, Sensor Systems Engineering, and Biopharmaceutical and Medical Technology Sciences. The institution emphasizes practical relevance, academic quality, and lifelong learning, combining university-level education with strong professional applicability.
