State Police College of Latvia

The State Police College is an educational institution that began its work in 1991 as the Training Centre of the Police Department of the Ministry of the Interior, but in 2006 the Cabinet of Ministers established the State Police College as a higher education institution under the supervision of the State Police.

In 2022, the State Police College signed a consortium agreement with Riga Stradins University, the University of Latvia and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Latvia, establishing the Internal Security Academy. The Consortium is an association to achieve a common goal: by combining resources, to prepare highly qualified specialists for work in Latvian law enforcement authorities. It is a form of cooperation between universities, sharing the resources and academic staff of the three institutions, but without creating a new legal entity, the university.

The main task of the State Police College is to provide high-quality training for police officers for professional service in the State Police. The State Police College is the only educational institution in Latvia that provides formal and further education for police officers. The State Police College implements short-cycle professional higher education programs, as well as vocational and non-formal education programs.
