Basic digital literacy with “Lenny Luchs” from VERITAS Created byBettina Krivan|Updated03 February 2026The interactive course from VERITAS is an innovative, digital teaching resource for the subject “Basic Digital Literacy” in the 5th grade.Complete package for digital literacyThe interactive course “Eduki Interactive – Lenny's Digital Adventures” from VERITAS is the first volume of an innovative digital textbook for the subject of digital literacy in the 5th grade. It is based on the latest version of the Austrian curriculum for digital literacy (BMBWF, 2022).The complete package is divided into five material packages (learning areas):Digital identityDigital devices – setup and operationDigital tools – application and designDigital media – experience and learningDigital fundamentals and computer science education - thinking and problem solvingEach material package contains four interactive elements. All interactive elements are modular and can be edited. To cover the entire content, you can estimate about 2 to 3 lessons per interactive element in an average 1st grade class at a secondary school or high school. The interactives can be ordered as teaching materials of your choice. They can be used for any length of time and distributed to any number of students.Target groupThe course is primarily aimed at teachers of digital literacy, but is also suitable for teachers of other subjects. Secondary school students and parents/guardians can also benefit from the course.Pedagogical conceptThe educational concept was developed in collaboration with Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU). The focus is on students working independently to learn the content. The age-appropriate avatar Lenny Luchs guides them through the interactive activities with images and spoken and written texts. The approach was successfully tested and validated during the development phase through visits to numerous schools with several hundred students.Technical requirementsAny Internet-enabled device is sufficient for use, as the interactives on “eduki” work in all common browsers. Headphones or earbuds are recommended for trouble-free listening to audio and video content in class.AwardsIn June 2025, Lenny Luchs was awarded the Learning Apps quality seal by the OeAD – Austria’s Agency for Education and Internationalisation and the Austrian Ministry of Education. What makes the VERITAS course “Eduki Interactive – Lenny's Digital Adventures” a good practice? The content was created by a teacher of digital literacy who was previously a software developer herself and, together with an experienced team from the VERITAS publishing house, was implemented on the eduki-platform in a child-friendly and didactically high-quality manner. The course consistently focuses on independent learning, interactivity, multimedia, and gamification elements. Students receive ongoing motivational feedback, while teachers can view clear – and, if desired, very detailed – performance overviews of the interactives they have assigned.A particular advantage is that it is easy to use for teachers who have little preparation time or who teach subjects outside their field of expertise – ideal for substitute lessons or short-term cover. The interactive materials are ad-free, GDPR-compliant, and carry the Ministry of Education's quality seal for learning apps.
