ANIS 2026 Scholarships, 9th edition: €5,000 grants for academics teaching emerging technologies

The Employers' Association of the Software and Services Industry (ANIS) in Romania has launched the 9th edition of the ANIS Scholarships programme, awarding EUR 5,000 to academics who are bringing emerging technologies and innovative teaching approaches into university courses and laboratories.

Applications will be opened from 1 September to 23 September 2026.

Areas of innovation

This year's programme covers nine areas reflecting both established and emerging priorities in technology and higher education:

• Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/Machine Learning)
• Cybersecurity
• Big Data
• Cloud Computing
• Internet of Things
• Quantum Computing
• Healthtech
• Tech for All
• AI for All – new category in 2026 dedicated to non-IT faculties

Tech for All and AI for All are aimed for teachers in non-technical fields. They cover digital skills, data analytics, no-code and low-code tools, and cybersecurity for non-technical fields. This is precisely the area where Romania’s digital skills gap is most strongly felt: not in computer science faculties, but in the rest of higher education. 

Who can apply

• University lecturers, university assistants and doctoral students
• Maximum age: 40 years
• The applicant must integrate new technologies or innovative teaching methods in a course or laboratory in the academic year 2025–2026
• Course must be new or substantially updated — minimum 50% new content in 2025 or minimum 60% over two years

The selected projects are awarded at the programme gala, scheduled for 12 November 2026, at the Politehnica University of Timișoara.

The ANIS Scholarships programme invests in the point where advanced digital skills are actually shaped: the university classroom. By supporting educators who are redesigning courses and laboratories around emerging technologies, the programme contributes directly to the modernisation of higher education in Romania. Its scope is particularly notable this year, spanning highly specialised areas such as quantum computing and AI while also recognising the need for technological and AI literacy across non-technical disciplines.
