Call for Applications to the STEAM Executive Panel

The European Commission's Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) is seeking applications for membership of the informal expert group "STEAM Executive Panel". The Panel will advise the Commission on skills needs in STEM sectors and innovative STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) educational approaches, contributing to the implementation of the EU STEM Education Strategic Plan and the broader Union of Skills initiative. Members will provide expertise on education-business cooperation, skills development, and the future of STEAM education in Europe.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to:

  • Individuals appointed in a personal capacity who act independently and in the public interest

  • Stakeholder organisations, including companies, education and training providers, and social partners

Applicants must have:

  • Proven competence and experience in STEM/STEAM education, including understanding of skills development and labour market needs in STEM sectors

  • Demonstrated knowledge of labour market dynamics, emerging skills needs, workforce shortages, and technological trends in STEM sectors

  • Experience in fostering collaboration between education and training institutions and businesses

  • Good knowledge of English to actively participate in discussions

  • For individuals in personal capacity, the absence of conflicts of interest is required

Funding

  • Members are not remunerated for the services they provide as members of the Panel

  • Travel and subsistence expenses incurred for participation in Panel activities will be reimbursed by the European Commission in accordance with applicable rules and available budgetary resources

How to Apply

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • A motivation letter outlining their interest and expected contribution to the Panel

  • A completed Classification Form (Annex I to the call document)

  • A completed Selection Criteria Form (Annex II to the call document)

  • For individuals and organisational representatives, a Europass CV (preferably no longer than three pages)

  • For individuals in personal capacity, a completed Declaration of Interests form is mandatory

Members will be appointed for an initial term of two years, with the possibility of renewal.

Timeline

The deadline for submitting applications is 5 July 2026.
