Fostering competences for the green transition

This call, under Horizon Europe, supports research on the competences required to enable the green transition across key economic sectors. The objective is to provide policymakers, education and training providers, and social partners with evidence-based recommendations to support lifelong learning, upskilling, and reskilling, while strengthening the links between the green and digital transitions.

Areas

  • Identification of competences required for the green transition in one of the following sectors: sustainable agriculture and food production, automotive industry, energy, construction, or nature and climate adaptation.

  • Analysis of skills needs, workforce readiness, and lifelong learning pathways to support the green transition.

  • Research on the interaction between green and digital competences and their integration into education and training systems.

  • Assessment of education, vocational training, and policy measures to address skills shortages and promote workforce resilience.

  • Strategies to improve inclusion and equal opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, and disadvantaged groups in green employment.

  • Collaboration between policymakers, education providers, employers, and industry to strengthen skills development for the green economy.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Legal entities established in EU Member States, Horizon Europe Associated Countries, and eligible low- and middle-income countries.

  • Consortium composed of at least three independent legal entities established in three different eligible countries.

  • At least one member of the consortium must be established in an EU Member State

Funding

  • Total Budget: up to 12.000.000 EUR

  • Amount per project: 3.000.000 to 4.000.000 EUR 

  • The funding is in the form of lump sum

The deadline to submit applications is set to 23 September 2026, 17:00 Brussels time.
