The European Basic Skills Network (EBSN) will take place on 17–19 June 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The conference theme, “Basic Skills for Life, Work and Democratic Participation in Times of Transformation”, reflects the growing importance of adult basic skills in a changing social, economic and democratic context. The event will bring together policymakers, researchers, practitioners and other stakeholders from across Europe to exchange knowledge, share evidence and present approaches that support adults’ foundational skills.

The conference aims to strengthen dialogue between policy, research and practice, with a particular focus on actionable approaches that can support inclusion, participation, resilience and lifelong learning.
