The Authority for the Digitisation of Romania (ADR) organised on 11 March 2026 the workshop ‘AI BLOOM – Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration’, the first event in a series of inter-institutional dialogues dedicated to understanding and promoting the ethical use of emerging technologies in the public sector.

The initiative aims to create opportunities for public institutions to exchange knowledge, discuss practical challenges and explore how artificial intelligence can be integrated into administrative processes in a responsible and transparent manner.

The hybrid event brought together around 250 physical participants from over 40 public institutions and 260 online participants. The 4-hour session covered topics such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, machine vision, RPA, and the implications of the European AI Act for public administration in Romania. Discussions also addressed the opportunities offered by AI-based solutions to improve administrative processes, alongside considerations related to transparency, accountability, data protection and the responsible deployment of automated systems.

The workshop aligns with the ADR objective of encouraging and supporting the responsible use of AI in public administration, in line with the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2024-2027.

The event marks an important step towards establishing a continuous inter-institutional dialogue on AI governance in the Romanian public sector. Through further exchanges and collaborative initiatives, ADR aims to encourage a shared understanding of responsible AI adoption and support public institutions in exploring solutions that can improve the quality, accessibility and efficiency of public services.
