Cyber Safe Senior: more digital security and knowledge for older people
image

At a time when digital technologies are becoming part of everyday life, older people are also increasingly facing the challenges of using the internet safely. The Cyber-Secure Senior project focuses specifically on how to help older people develop digital skills and equip them with the knowledge to use online services safely.

The main goal of the project is to increase awareness of online safety among older people and develop their digital competences, especially in identifying online risks and using security tools. By doing so, the project contributes to reducing the digital exclusion of older people and enables them to use digital technologies more confidently in their daily lives. The project is primarily aimed at people over 65 years of age, but also includes adult mentors, lecturers and educational organizations that will pass on new knowledge to older generations.

About the project

The project is carrying out various activities aimed at improving the digital security of older people. Among the most important are:

  • Development of educational materials on safe use of the Internet;
  • Development of an electronic handbook with examples of online scams and cyber threats;
  • Elaboration of online learning content;
  • Implementation of international training for mentors;
  • Experimental training for older people;
  • Cybersecurity awareness-raising activities;

The project will train 25 mentors who will gain knowledge to teach older people about online safety. Approximately 100 older participants will be involved in the training and information events for the general public will be organised.

Knowledge for a safer digital world

The Cyber-Secure Senior project aims to enable older people to feel safer, more confident and more involved in the digital world. Through a combination of trainings, practical examples and supporting materials, the project contributes to the development of digital competences of older people and to safer use of the Internet.
