Detekto: Authentic information or fake news?

It has never been easier to access information, and perhaps never more difficult to determine which information is authentic. In a world of social media, video platforms, artificial intelligence and algorithm-driven content recommendations, hundreds of messages, opinions, news and videos compete for our attention every day.

In this environment, digital literacy is no longer just a technical skill. The real challenge is to be able to critically interpret what you see, recognise misleading content, and make informed decisions online. This is why the Detekto.hu website was created, where the Idea Foundation was developed in cooperation with HDMO (Hungarian Digital Media Observatory) and co-financed by the European Union.

In the age of fake news, manipulated images, click-hunting content and information generated by AI, critical thinking is becoming an increasingly important skill. We need to learn not only how to find information, but also how to verify its authenticity.
