FIRST Tech Challenge Greece 2025
The Panhellenic Educational Robotics Competition FIRST® Tech Challenge Greece 2025, held on 15 and 16 March 2025 at the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, is one of the most important STEM competitions, attracting students aged 12-18 to the world of industrial robotics and helping them develop valuable professional skills.
25 teams from Greece and abroad participated in the competition. The competent body and the national organizer for Greece is the Educational Organization Eduact.
FIRST Tech Challenge teams design and build a robot using a kit of reusable components and compete within a common set of game rules, completing the specific challenge of the season. Students and team mentors utilize skills such as programming, electronics, metallurgy, graphic design, web design, public speaking and video recording. The FIRST Tech Challenge welcomes every student, regardless of their initial knowledge or experience.
This season's theme, FIRST® DIVETM, was inspired by the seabed. The teams were asked to build robots that would collect samples from the “bottom” and place them accurately at a specific point on the track within 2:30 minutes. The robots in this competition reach a size of one meter and are made of high-strength and precise industrial materials, suitable for demanding mechanical operations.
The Robotica.gr team from Patras was distinguished for its unique approach, as most parts of the robot were designed, manufactured and tested entirely by the team, without relying on ready-made solutions. At the same time, its members developed a complete portfolio of documentation of the construction, the code and the overall strategy.
With this important distinction, the team is ready to represent Greece on a global level, highlighting the potential of young people in educational robotics and technological innovation.
