Hungarian High School Students Prepared for the Age of AI

According to the national survey, young people are open to technological change

• Four out of five high school students plan to incorporate artificial intelligence into their studies in some way
• Nearly 800 students participated in the domestic research

Budapest – Hungarian secondary school students have a positive perception of artificial intelligence (AI) and technological development. According to the Bosch Tech Compass survey, conducted in autumn 2024, 53% of adults in Hungary believe that artificial intelligence will be the most influential technology of the next decade, compared to 65% of high school students.

The survey also asked secondary school pupils about their attitudes towards technology, their expectations about developments and the potential of education. Nearly 800 students participated in the research.

Artificial intelligence is playing an increasing role

While 71% of adults believe that AI skills will be essential in future workplaces, this figure rises to 84% among students. The survey also showed that 90% of participating students already consider these skills important for learning.

In addition, students are increasingly using AI tools. While three-quarters of adult respondents do not use AI tools at work at all, less than one-fifth of students report never using such technologies for learning.

Compared to adult respondents, four times as many high school students use these tools daily, while three times as many use them weekly. These findings suggest that young people are integrating AI-based solutions into their studies more actively.

The evolving role of traditional knowledge in the age of AI

With the rise of artificial intelligence, traditional knowledge alone will no longer suffice. More than half of adults believe that in the future, in a world shaped by emerging artificial intelligence, traditional knowledge will become less important. For students, the percentage is slightly lower, at 45%.

The survey also explored whether AI education should be introduced in schools as a standalone subject. Nearly two-thirds of adults and less than half of young people agreed with this statement. However, 54% of respondents across both age groups support the use of AI-based virtual teachers in certain subjects.

According to the research, 84% of students already plan to incorporate artificial intelligence into their studies. Among adults, the figure is slightly lower, at 75%.

About the study

During the survey, Opinion Institute Kft. In spring 2025, she interviewed nearly 800 high school students aged 16-20. The national survey was conducted on behalf of the Bosch Group in Hungary. During the research, Bosch was never named as a customer.
