Latvian Digital Skills National Coalition – setting priorities for 2026!
On December 17, as part of the Champions for the Digital Decade (C4DD) project, the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) organized the annual Latvian Digital Skills National Coalition meeting. The partners of the Latvian digital skills community looked back at the work done in 2025 and shared their key priorities for 2026.
The seminar was opened by LIKTA Council Member and Latvian Digital Skills NC Coordinator Māra Jākobsone, highlighting the results of the work of the Latvian Digital Skills National Coalition in 2025 as well as the priorities and planned activities in the field of digital skills for the coming year.
The main priorities and planned activities for 2026 discussed:
- Localization and implementation of DigComp 3.0
- Review of the Digital Decade targets
- Review of the general education curriculum standard
- EU Code Week initiative and Code4Europe project activities
- Organisation of Digital Week 2026 events
- Collaboration within various digital skills projects
Digital skills community partners shared their experiences and plans for 2026 in the following areas:
- “Current trends in employment”, Evita Simsone, Director of the State Employment Agency
- "People as the Basis for Growth", BaibaBašķere, Director of the Human Capital Development Department of the Ministry of Economics
- "Collaboration efficiency" Vineta Sprugaine, Head of Corporate Communications at the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre
- "How to manage security risks", Katrīna Sataki, Head of NIC.LV
- "Adult education as an investment", Liene Voroņenko, National Coordinator at the Employers' Confederation of Latvia (LDDK)
- "Artificial Intelligence in Education", Linda Sinka, Project Manager at the Riga Business School
- "From question to discovery: the Joint Catalogue of AI Museum", Jānis Ziediņš, Deputy Director for Digital Development at the Culture Information Systems Centre
- Conference moderator Reinis Zitmanis
The seminar was attended by representatives of national government and state institutions, educational institutions, companies, non-governmental organisations and regional training centres.
