Digital Skills and Jobs Platform

Online learning has long ceased to mean just a video call with a teacher. Today, much more is expected from an educational platform: the ability to complete tasks, work with new vocabulary, communicate with the instructor, review covered material, and access lessons from different devices without constantly switching between multiple services.

It is in this direction that the Ukrainian online school JustSchool is developing, having recently updated several features of its learning platform. Its key advantage is that the main stages of learning are combined into a single digital environment: students can video-chat with the teacher directly through their personal accounts, work with materials, and complete exercises and homework.

Recent updates show that the platform is gradually moving from a set of individual tools to a holistic learning space where one action logically follows another.

One lesson instead of several open services

One of the common inconveniences of online learning arises even before the lesson begins. The video conference link is in one place, class materials in another, homework in a third, and messages from the teacher have to be hunted down in a separate messenger.

JustSchool takes a different approach. Video communication with the teacher is built directly into its interactive platform, while training materials and tasks are accessible via a personal account. On the school's official website, this format is described as a training experience where students communicate with teachers in real time, work with materials, complete tasks, and track their progress, all within the platform.

For the user, this primarily means fewer actions. There is no need to set up a separate toolkit for every class or switch back and forth between a video service, study materials, and other communication channels.

The lesson room has become more functional

The team paid special attention to the lesson room itself. It now features a side menu providing access to the chat and dictionary, and the in-lesson chat has been fully synchronized with the main personal account. This works seamlessly for both individual and group classes.

Small interface changes also solve quite practical problems. For instance, a student who joins early now sees a countdown timer before class starts, and pop-up windows no longer block the main workspace.

New collaborative board

One notable update is the completely redesigned interactive whiteboard. It has been adapted to work seamlessly across different devices, ensuring that both the student and the teacher see the exact same content regardless of screen size.

On the whiteboard, users can now navigate the canvas, erase individual items, undo actions, rotate elements, and easily adjust text, pencil, and shape settings. Additional features include scaling from 10 to 300 percent and the ability to insert images directly from the clipboard. On mobile devices and tablets, the layout of the video and whiteboard has also been adjusted so that the video window does not overlap the workspace.

This is especially important for lessons where seeing the finished material is simply not enough. The teacher can explain topics in real time, write, highlight key elements, and collaborate with the student within a single shared visual space.

Exercises adapted to different devices

Separately, the team updated the interface and logic of the exercises so that they work equally well on computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

For audio and video tasks, playback speed and volume controls were added, along with the ability to rewind video. Tasks that require entering text or selecting an answer from a drop-down list have also been fully adapted for different screen sizes.

This corresponds to a broader shift in online learners' habits: learning is no longer strictly bound to a single desk or desktop computer. The ability to seamlessly continue working with materials on any available device makes the format much more flexible.

Unified digital environment for corporate training

The advantages of the JustSchool learning platform become especially noticeable when English is studied not by an individual, but by a whole team. For businesses, it is important not only to organize classes with teachers, but also to understand how training is progressing, whether employees are attending lessons, and how their performance is changing.

At JustSchool, corporate English also takes place within its interactive platform. Employees get access to lessons, materials, tasks, chats with the teacher, and learning outcomes right inside their personal accounts. Separate management tools are provided for the company: you can track the attendance and progress of employees, as well as access statistics and financial statements.

This format solves one of the typical challenges of corporate learning, complex administration. The company no longer needs to manually combine video conferencing tools, training materials, attendance tables, and individual reports. The entire learning process and its corresponding data are gathered in a single environment.

Today, JustSchool corporate programs cover General English, Business English, English for IT, preparation for international exams, and specialized courses that can be adapted to the professional tasks of the team. According to the school, this format of corporate training has already been utilized by more than 200 companies.

What such updates change for online education

Technologies in education are not valuable simply because there are more buttons and functions on the platform. It is much more important whether they shorten the path between the teacher's explanation and the student's actual practice.

In the case of JustSchool, the general direction of the updates is clearly visible: video communication, interactive materials, whiteboard, chat, dictionary, exercises, and homework should not work as separate products, but as related parts of the same learning process. On the current pages of JustSchool, it is also noted that lessons, exercises, teacher support, and other materials are all gathered in your personal account.

For the student, the result of this approach is quite simple: less time is spent on organizing online learning and more on English itself.

And for the EdTech product, this shows a different approach to platform development. It is not just about transferring traditional lessons online, but about creating an environment that accompanies the student before, during, and after the lesson.

JustSchool continues to develop its platform, gradually combining all learning scenarios into a single space. You can get acquainted with its format during a free trial lesson, which gives you the opportunity to see how online lessons work, alongside interactive materials and communication with the teacher in practice.

The dictionary has become part of the educational process

Another area of update concerns vocabulary. Instead of a separate section to which the student must return independently after the lesson, the dictionary is gradually integrated directly into the learning process.

Now, a word or phrase can be highlighted in the text, translated, and saved without leaving the current task. If the word has several meanings, the platform offers translation options from which you can select the one appropriate for the context.

The dictionary is also available in the lesson room. Words saved during the class are synchronized with the user's main dictionary. And when a word or phrase has already been studied, it does not just stay in the archive - it can be queued for re-training).

In product logic, this creates a clear cycle: meet a new word → save it → learn → return to it during repetition. It is the regular return to vocabulary that turns the dictionary from a static repository of words into a full-fledged educational tool.
