Digital Skills and Jobs Platform
Klimaklar – a free learning platform to help with ESG reporting

The Confederation of Danish Industry and the Danish Industry Foundation have created Klimaklar, a free learning platform that helps Danish companies draw up climate reports and translate them into concrete actions through free courses, enabling them to meet their ESG reporting needs.

Klimaklar offers free digital learning resources and advice to help you create, manage, and improve a company’s carbon footprint, boosting its competitiveness. A reduction in CO₂ emissions can make a real difference to a company's bottom line.

Users will be guided through the entire process, from data collection and carbon footprint calculation to drawing up reduction plans, identifying specific savings, and spotting opportunities in new business models, strengthening users' data collection and innovative thinking skills.

Klimaklar has been developed in close collaboration with climate experts and a number of Danish companies, which means the programme is tailored to day-to-day operations and current knowledge.

What can you find on the platform?

Klimaklar provides access to:

  • Digital learning modules
  • Online learning sessions
  • 1:1 advice

The basic course can be completed in one month, but can also be taken at the pace you need.

A total of 1,398 companies have completed the Klimaklar programme, with 94% of participants reporting that they were very satisfied or satisfied with their experience.

Resources for SMEs

The learning platform can also access learning sessions on the Voluntary Sandard for SME Sustainability Reporting (VSME) standard. The voluntary standard aims to support more standardised sharing of ESG information at company level, for example regarding a company’s total CO2 emissions.

“Reporting requirements will be simplified and the VSME will be simpler for companies that want to step up their work on sustainability. There is now more room for you as a company to focus on your sustainability as business development rather than a reporting exercise that is positive.”

- Pernille Wissing Madsen, climate advisor at Klimaklar Produktionsvirksomhed

By investing in energy-efficient solutions, companies can cut electricity and heating costs, while smarter resource use and waste reduction can reduce material waste and logistics costs. In addition, a focus on sustainability can drive innovation, leading to the development of new business models and more efficient processes – for example, through circular solutions, reuse of materials, or digitalisation, which reduces paper consumption and transport requirements.

In this way, sustainability becomes not only a responsible initiative, but also a source of business development and potential cost savings. Furthermore, it can be a competitive advantage, as these companies become more attractive partners for larger organisations that are required to produce ESG reports.

If your company wishes to report in line with the voluntary standard, the Klimaklar Produktionsvirksomhed programme provides a clear overview and helps your company get off to a good start with collecting CO2 data, while teaching you how to set reduction targets. This is done via a digital learning platform and online climate advice – free of charge for all Danish manufacturing companies, and supported by the Danish Industry Foundation.
