Advanced Network Intrusion Detection & Prevention (CYBER PRO TRAIN IT–ES-GR)

Start Date
23.June.2026
End date
25.Jun.2026

This training module provides participants with practical knowledge of advanced network intrusion detection and prevention systems, focusing on network threats, anomaly detection, SIEM technologies, and modern defensive cybersecurity strategies.

Main objectives

This training module aims to provide participants with a practical understanding of advanced network intrusion detection and prevention concepts used to secure modern digital infrastructures. Participants will explore how malicious activities are identified, monitored, and mitigated in enterprise and cloud-connected networks.
The course introduces concepts such as Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), anomaly-based and signature-based detection methods, packet analysis, SIEM technologies, and threat hunting practices. Learners will also examine common network attacks including port scanning, unauthorized access attempts, lateral movement, and malicious traffic analysis.

Special attention is given to the challenges of monitoring encrypted traffic, analysing network events, and integrating proactive defence mechanisms into cybersecurity operations.

Target

The training is designed for professionals, including SME employees, ICT practitioners, cybersecurity learners, students, network administrators, and Public Administration staff interested in strengthening their knowledge of network security monitoring and intrusion detection practices.

Program

  • Introduction to IDS and IPS Technologies
  • Signature-Based and Anomaly-Based Detection
  • Network Traffic Analysis and Packet Inspection
  • SIEM Systems and Security Event Correlation
  • Threat Hunting and Incident Detection
  • Network Attack Scenarios and Lateral Movement
  • Practical Security Analysis and Exercises

Learning outcomes

After completing the training, participants will understand how intrusion detection and prevention systems operate, identify common network threats, analyze suspicious network activity, and apply monitoring and defensive strategies to improve organizational cybersecurity.

The course issues an OPEN BADGE recognizing the acquired cybersecurity and security testing skills.
