Programme structure

The BSc in Occupational Therapy is a four-year undergraduate programme combining academic study with practice-based learning, including extensive supervised clinical placements across hospitals, community services, mental health settings, and rehabilitation environments.

  • In Year 1, students develop foundational knowledge in anatomy, physiology, psychology, sociology, and occupational science to support understanding of human function, health, and wellbeing
  • Across Years 2–4, students progress to specialised study in physical, mental health, and community-based occupational therapy; they develop skills in assessment, intervention planning, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice

The programme integrates interprofessional learning, leadership development, and service-user-centred care, alongside completion of a research project. It aims to produce graduates with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies required to support individuals in achieving independence and participation in daily life, using evidence-based and person-centred approaches across diverse healthcare settings.
