This course offers a foundational introduction to Basic Operating Systems Concepts, covering their purpose, core functions, and significance in computing. It begins with an overview and the historical evolution of operating systems, tracing their development from abacus to modern multi-user and real-time environments. Key concepts such as its definition and its function will also be covered. 

The course also examines the structure of operating systems in line with a structure of layers or levels, and provides a  deep classification of different OS types in accordance with a wide array of categories, such as architecture, processors, response time or availability.
