École Polytechnique Master in Economics, Data Analytics and Corporate Finance (EDACF)

The École Polytechnique is offering a two-year Master's degree in Economics, Data Analytics and Corporate Finance (EDACF) taught entirely in English focusing on training future strategic decision-makers in the corporate world. This programme achieves this by combining three disciplines usually taught separately namely: microeconomic analysis, corporate finance, and data analytics.

This program is in partnership with Bocconi University, some students will get to study their second academic year at Bocconi in Milano.

Curriculum

The program combines three complementary disciplines that are usually taught separately at this level of study:

  • Microeconomic analysis: The microeconomics component gives students the tools for learning about corporate strategic decisions and strategic interactions within an ever-changing environment. Students focus on areas such as market and industrial organization, game theory and econometrics.
  • Corporate finance: This field deals with the analysis of firm's financial decisions. The students get to grips with various analytical techniques according to each subject, and tackle quantitative case studies.
  • Data analytics: Gaining crucial knowledge in econometrics, statistics and big data, the program equips students with the skills to analyze and interpret data.
  •

Year 1

The first year principally involves theory-based teaching, focusing on fundamentals and methodologies of the disciplines studied,  and finishing with a four-month internship period.

Typical courses include: Applied Econometrics, Corporate Finance, Python, Business Economics, Merger & Acquisition, Private Equity, Market Design.

Year 2

In their second year, students dive deeper into their chosen field by following an advanced curriculum tailored to their track. The specialization culminates in a 6-month internship, offering hands-on experience.

Depending on their selected specialization, students will explore: Financial Decisions under Risk, Digital Finance: Cryptocurrencies and Blockchains, Dynamic Pricing and Revenue Management, Econometrics of Competition, Financial Markets, and Big Data.

Internship

At the end of each year, students complete internships in France or abroad. They may decide to develop their practical skills in corporate finance by joining banks or private equity firms, or go into strategic consulting or data analytics across many different sectors (industry, retail, etc.).

Requirements

It is recommended to have a comprehensive Mathematical and Economics training prior to undertaking this programme. However, students who have a background in finance or engineering can also apply as the key element required for this programme is a strong command of mathematics as this programme focuses heavily on quantitative approaches.

Students will also need to send in a personal statement detailing their motivation for the programme and any relevant experience they may have.
