Fundamentals and Applications of InfraBIM Technologies in Railway Infrastructure Projects (DIGITWINS4CIUE)

Fundamentals and Applications of InfraBIM Technologies in Railway Infrastructure Projects (DIGITWINS4CIUE)

"Fundamentals and Applications of InfraBIM Technologies in Railway Infrastructure Projects" is a massive open online course (MOOC), developed by EUCEDIC, the European Center Of Excellence in Digitalization of Infrastructures and Cities in the context of the Digital Twins for Complex Infrastructures and Urban Ecosystems (DIGITWINS4CIUE) project.

About this course

This MOOC delivers good practices for designing, modelling, and coordinating railway infrastructure using InfraBIM workflows. It covers 3D railway alignment and corridor modelling, parametric cross-section development, OpenBIM data exchange, and IFC Rail schema principles. The course provides civil engineers and BIM professionals with the tools to implement interoperable, standards-compliant digital models throughout the railway design and construction lifecycle by Focusing on InfraBIM workflows for railway infrastructure design, modeling, and data exchange.

Course modules

The MOOC is split across 5 modules:

  1. InfraBIM fundamentals
  2. Railway modeling I
  3. Railway modeling II (Dynamo)
  4. Classification & quantity take-off
  5. OpenBIM collaboration

Key topics and themes include InfraBIM, Railway modelling, parametric design and OpenBIM.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand InfraBIM standards and apply OpenBIM workflows.

  • Improve your ability to build 3D railway models.
