GDPR & Cybersecurity: Practical Compliance for Real-World Incidents and Controls (CyberSuite)

This intermediate-level course equips learners with practical skills to apply GDPR requirements directly to cybersecurity decisions, incident handling, and everyday operational controls. It is designed for professionals who already know basic GDPR terminology and want to translate legal obligations into defensible technical and organisational practice. 

The course is developed within the CyberSuite project, which aims to tackle prevailing challenges in cybersecurity services by simplifying processes, including streamlining the design, configuration, deployment, and management of these services, specifically catering to SMEs lacking dedicated cybersecurity resources. 

About this course 

Delivered through self-paced flipbooks, quizzes, and realistic scenario activities, the course focuses on the GDPR obligations most relevant to cybersecurity. Learners explore how to select appropriate security measures, manage personal data breaches, apply the 72-hour notification logic, document actions and decisions, and embed privacy by design and DPIA thinking into projects and workflows. The course also addresses processor, vendor, and cloud responsibilities under GDPR, with emphasis on contracts, oversight, and incident coordination.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to interpret GDPR requirements affecting cybersecurity, implement practical security and governance measures, assess and manage personal data breaches, apply privacy by design and privacy by default, and produce compliance-ready evidence such as incident logs, breach reports, and DPIA outputs. The course is fully online and self-paced, with a strong focus on SMEs, operational environments, and project delivery.
