‘Go ahead’ training opportunity Created byAthanasios Panagopoulos|Updated16 July 2024BlendedThis is a new training programme for the Public Employment Service (PES) aimed at upskilling one hundred and fifty thousand (150.000) private sector workers. It follows up on the successful initiative of the PES to train unemployed people in green and digital skills. The long-term objective of the programme is to adapt private sector workers to the requirements of modern workplace trends, upgrade their prospects and thus contribute to the modernisation of the Greek economy.In particular, people can choose, on the basis of their educational and professional profile, their subject area from a large list of individual training programmes focusing on digital and green skills. By way of example, the options will include:basic digital office tools,programmes for social media marketinge-shop management,data analytics,artificial intelligence applications,logistics systemsuptake of digital technologies in the agricultural sector.Monitoring of the programme shall lead to the acquisition of digital and green knowledge and skills and equivalent certification through independent certification bodies. The amount of the grant to beneficiaries is five (5) euro per hour, i.e. a total of four hundred (400) euros.Programme innovationFor the successful implementation of this initiative, the DHPA cooperates with (a) the Universities’ Training and Lifelong Learning Centres (KEDIVIM), (b) international technology giants and (c) licensed Lifelong Learning Centres (KLLL), offering participants a wide range of options according to their educational and professional profile.The conditions for applying to the new programmeWorkers who meet at least the following conditions shall have the right to submit an application to participate in the Register of Beneficiary Workers for Training through the KEDIVIM of HEIs and licensed KNMs:They are private-sector employeesAre over 18 years of ageThey have completed at least compulsory education.Each trainee will receive a theoretical training course related to the development of digital or ‘green’ knowledge, competences and skills, of a total duration of 80 hours.Information on how the courses are conducted and the selection of applicantsThe courses will be carried out by combining face-to-face and distance learning, modern and asynchronous as follows:twelve (12) hours of in-person trainingforty-eight (48) hours of modern distance learningup to twenty (20) hours of asynchronous distance learning.The training programme of up to eighty (80) hours must be completed not later than two months from the date of commencement. Private sector employees can apply to participate in the scheme via the voucher.gov.gr website and this page in particular.The beneficiaries will be selected in order of priority for submission of the application and until the posts offered have been exhausted.
