The hardware of a quantum computer Created byGalina MISHEVA|Updated12 August 2024Online'The hardware of quantum computers' is an online massive open online course (MOOC) designed by scientific and engineering experts from the QuTech research centre at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). This intermediate-level MOOC covers key terms and concepts in quantum technology and offers an overview of the impact of quantum computers and internet on the world. It may be useful to those with already some background in technology - as well as to tech enthusiasts. Why this course? Quantum computers and the quantum internet have started to transform the way we think about information - both at work and in our personal lives. This course is designed for those who want to know more about the quantum information era: its promises and essential concepts, as well as key terms. The MOOC covers topics such as: quantum bits and ket notation, qubits (and how they are built), main types of quantum computers, and others. The course is self-paced, meaning it can be taken anytime, anywhere. You will need approximately 6 weeks to complete with an estimated effort of 6 to 8 hours every week. To follow the course, you will also need a basic understanding of mathematics and statistics. An interest in science is a plus. Learning outcomesUpon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to explain how a quantum computer is built and list its main building blocks and reflect on the evolution and impact of quantum technology today, and in the future. They will be able to describe the four types of solid state qubits and how these work (such as superconducting Transmon qubits, Silicon spin qubits, diamond NV center qubits, and topological qubits). Finally, they will also be able to discuss quantum gates are performed on each of these qubit implementations.Training Offer DetailsWebsite linkThe hardware of a quantum computer course link Digital technology / specialisationHigh Performance ComputingQuantum ComputingTraining opportunitiesMOOCLearning EffortPart time intensiveSelf-pacedYesDuration Time3 MonthsDigital skill levelIntermediateProvider OrganisationTU Delft (Delft University of Technology)Geographic scope - CountryNetherlandsShow lessTarget languageEnglishField of education and trainingDatabase and network design and administrationSoftware and applications development and analysisIs this course freeYesCredential offeredLearning ActivityPrerequisitesNoUpcoming courseNo Share this page Log in to comment
