Master of Science in Data Engineering and Analytics Created byTiana Zignani|UpdatedagoPresentialThe Technical University of Munich (TUM) is offering a two-year full-time Master's programme in Data Engineering and Analytics. Handling and analyzing very large amounts of data is an urgent problem in many areas of science and industry and requires novel approaches and techniques. The trend towards “Big Data” is caused by a host of developments: Creation and storage of large data sets becomes feasible and economically viable (eg, due to price decreases in storage space, sensors, smart devices, social networks, etc.)Technical advances make it possible to examine data sets at large scale (eg, in multi-core systems and cloud computing)Such volumes of data do not originate only in “classical” domains like business data, but are now generated in many areas of life (consider vehicles that create sensor data and share information via intelligent networking or data created by intelligent energy grids)This programme is taught entirely in English and will explore innovative solutions for handling and analysing very large amounts of data. Graduates of this programme will be able to design and plan industry-grade solutions in the area of Big Data and undertake research projects should they be interested in pursuing these.Structure of the programmeThe programme is divided into three areas of studies: Data Analysis, Data Engineering and Analytics, and Data Engineering:Data Analysis: students learn the fundamentals of understanding and modelling data and underlying relationshipsData Engineering and Analytics: lectures about the construction of systems that perform efficient and scalable data processingData Engineering: distributed systems, distributed databases, query optimisation, database systems on modern CPU architectures and high performance computing. The program structure and an overview of modules can be found on the TUM website.Training Offer DetailsWebsite linkMaster of Science (M.Sc.)
