NTNU Master's programme in Information Security

Overview

The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is offering a two-year master's programme worth 120 ECTS credits on Information Security. The programme is taught entirely in English and can be taken part-time as well.

With information technology permeating all aspects of society, securing services and structures and ensuring the availability of trustworthy information is crucial and a budding commercial activity. This Master of Science in Information Security will equip graduates with the knowledge and theoretical background and skills needed to succeed in this field.

Curriculum

The programme has three tracks that students can opt to specialise in:

• Cyber and Information Security and Technology
• Information Security Management
• Digital Forensics

The first track has a focus on the technological aspects within information security and the second focuses on the management aspects. Finally, the third track is intended to train future digital forensic experts.

While these are all options for students to take on, the common courses for the first semester will cover core topics in information and security technology, forensics and management. The rest of the study programme will have specific set courses for each track. 

Requirements

To qualify for this master's programme, applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, information technology, computer engineering or a similar background. Their previous educational programme must include at least 80 ECTS credits from university-level courses in computing. Consult more details on admission requirements.
