PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI (PMI-CPMAI)™ Exam Prep Course and Certification

PMI Certified Professional in Managing AI (PMI-CPMAI)™ Exam Prep Course and Certification is a bundle from the Project Management Institute (PMI) that combines a self-paced exam-preparation course with the PMI-CPMAI™ certification examination. It is aimed at project managers, technologists, data specialists and consultants who lead or support artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.

The course follows a tool-agnostic approach to managing AI projects. It shows how to turn AI ambitions into achievable plans, align technical and business stakeholders, manage iterative, data-driven delivery and produce ethical, measurable results.

Learning outcomes

• Align AI initiatives with business needs, assess feasibility and define return on investment;
• Define the scope and objectives of AI projects;
• Identify data needs and address infrastructure, governance and compliance requirements
• Prepare data for AI through quality checks, augmentation and compliance controls;
• Manage iterative model development, from machine learning to generative AI;
• Test, monitor and evaluate AI systems, including model drift and explainability;
• Operationalise AI responsibly and plan for continuous improvement; and
• Prepare for the PMI-CPMAI™ certification examination.

The 21-hour course is structured around the six phases of the CPMAI™ methodology: Business Understanding, Data Understanding, Data Preparation, Model Development, Model Evaluation and Model Operationalisation. It combines multimedia content, scenario-based exercises, case studies and a downloadable workbook, and awards 21 professional development units (PDUs).

No prior experience is required: candidates must be at least 18 years old and complete the exam prep course before taking the exam (120 questions, 160 minutes). The course and exam are available in several languages, including English, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish. The bundle costs USD 899, or USD 699 for PMI members. PMI also offers a free introductory module on the CPMAI™ methodology.
