Privacy and Protection Enhancing Techniques [Module 7] - NERO

Online

NERO Module 7 – Privacy and Protection Enhancing Techniques introduces learners to data protection principles and privacy-preserving mechanisms tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Developed under the NERO project and supported by the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme, this module aims to help European SMEs address privacy risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and bolster digital defence mechanisms.

About this course

The module focuses on the fundamental concepts of data privacy, ethical and legal standards, and technical methods for securing sensitive digital assets. Participants explore both theoretical principles, such as Zero-Knowledge Proofs, Differential Privacy, and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements, and applied defensive techniques (including data anonymisation, cryptographic controls, access management, and endpoint security). Through structured instruction and case studies, trainees gain the competencies needed to assess organisational privacy posture and safeguard company systems against privacy threats.
