The aim of the course is to teach programming and coding skills to participants and provide a foundational knowledge for upskilling further in the web development sector. Students learn how to apply web tools and advance their knowledge of programming languages such as HTML and CSS through co-creation of websites. They also learn about JavaScript frameworks and existing libraries, which allow programmes and software developers to build applications and tools. Learners are given an overview of navigation design on the web and understand the importance of providing adequate navigation support to accompany any website. As a final project, students have to build their own Wordpress site in the most creative way possible, using innovative tools to create dynamic web content. The course's material are available online free of charge, together with practical exercises and quizzes for self-assessment. The Web Design and Web Development course is also suitable for self-motivated study as it can be taken at one's one pace.
