National Coalitions

The Greek National Coalition for Digital Skills and Jobs is a cooperation platform between various entities, public or private, involved in promoting and enhancing the digital skills of the Greek society. As of July 2019, the competence for the organisation and the Coalition's functioning at national, European and international level, is coordinated by  the Ministry of Digital Governance. 

 

The objectives of the National Coalition are:

  • Promoting the cooperation between all parties in order to introduce actions with the aim of enhancing digital skills. The goal is to address the issue of the digital skills gap in every sector of the Greek economy and society.
  • Enhancing the dissemination of EU policies on digital skills in Greece. The organisational structure for the Coalition is the responsibility of the department of Digital Economy, Investments and Digital Skills / Directorate of Digital Strategy of General Secretariat for Information Systems and Digital Governance.

The National Coalition is in alignment with the country's strategic digital transformation (the Digital Skills Pillar), to be presented in a forthcoming 'transformation book'. At the same the Greek National Coalition is also involved in the promotion of European digital skills policies. The Coalition focuses on 4 target groups when it comes to digital skills: Education, Training, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Professionals, and Citizens.

  • to contribute to the goals of the Digital Decade 2030;
  • to uutilize the national and EU fundings;
  • promote synergies between Public and Privite Sector;
  • to transfer EU Policies in National Levels.

Fundings Opportunities 

Through Operational Programme "Digital Transformation 2021-2027", the Ministry of Digital Governance in the framework of National Digital Skills and Jobs allocates 82,500,000 euros for upskilling/reskilling of Private and Public sector employees, for all levels (basic, advanced, experts. The action is in alignment with the national Digital Transformation Bible 2020-2025 and the European political programme Digital Decade 2030.

 

Promote synergies between Public and Privite Sector

Training of civil servants in Cloud Computing Technologies

 

The initiative aims to train public civil servants on topics related to cloud technologies and digital literacy. These training programmes primarily adress executive managers in Public Administration and Local Government, who have an educational background related to ICT. It is coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Governance, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, the National Centre for Public Administration and Local Government and Microsoft, in the framework of the activities of the Greek National Coalition for Digital Skills and Jobs. Until today over 6.000 civil servants have attended the courses. 

 

This initiative is aligned with Digital Decade 2030 and  the Digital Transformation Bible 2020-2025, the national strategic document for the digital transformation of Greece for the period 2020-2025, as one of the objectives of the strategic pillar "Digital skills and competences".

 

Tranfer EU Policies in National Levels

With the aim of developing a national reference framework for citizens' digital competences, National Coalition published  for the first time in Greece the Greek version of the  DigComp 2.2, This  edition includes the translation and rendering into Greek of the updated reference framework which provides more than 250 new examples of knowledge, skills and attitudes that help citizens to use digital technologies with confidence, critical competence and safety. New and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence systems are also included in its new version of DigComp 2.2.

The National Coalitions partners comprise of a network of 40 stakeholders from public and not-for-profit sector, academia and education, and industry sectors in Greece.
