The 1st Second Chance School of Domokos started its operation in 2008 and is located on the grounds of an adult maleprison. Our school's goal is to give students a formal educational framework while also giving them the opportunity todevelop a desire to engage in cognitive pursuits and make their time in prison more affordable. Since September 2016, theschool has resumed its operation (after being closed for two years between 2014 and 2016) due to the prison's statusadjustment to a Category C prison. The curriculum of a second chance school consists of basic education lessons(language, arithmetic, computing, physics, etc.) without any additional reading materials/books. Adult educators of a secondchance school are solely accountable to assess each student's needs and modify the lessons accordingly. A second chanceschool is an autonomous institution with a personalized teaching approach and instructor flexibility, that is primarily excitingand engaging for the learner.
