ATEC – Associação de Formação para a Indústria is a nonprofit private association, established in 2003, with the promoters and founding members, Volkswagen Autoeuropa , Siemens , Bosch and CCILA (or AHK - Portuguese - German Chamber of Commerce and Industry), which celebrated with the Portuguese State, a cooperation agreements (including the Technical and Financial Cooperation Agreement for Training).
The constitution of ATEC was based on the need to create an organization that would contribute significantly to increasing of qualifications/professional skills available in Portugal and, consequently, to increase the quality and productivity of the business while providing high levels of employability.
ATEC has a national scope, with headquarters in Palmela, located at Volkswagen Autoeuropa Industrial Park, a delegation in Porto (in Siemens facilities in Freixieiro). It comprises a team of experienced professionals whose individual pathways are part of a collective competences and skills gained in national and international projects, with proven results.
The traditional ATEC’s activity plan focuses on three areas: the continuous training of the employees at the service of Promoters, vocational training of unemployed Youth and Adults, and also the training and consultancy to the market, which may consist of both training offer promoted by ATEC, and specific training and consultancy required by customers.
Regarding vocational training, ATEC has daily about 1500 trainees, developing several training modalities and EQF level 4 and 5 courses, with a strong component of on-job training, in a real work environment. The training areas where it acts are mainly of a technological and industrial nature.
