Barcelona Activa

 

Barcelona Activa is the Economic Development Agency of the Barcelona City Council.
Created in 1987, Barcelona Activa seeks to contribute to improving the quality of life of people by
promoting the city's economic competitiveness, promoting quality employment, boosting entrepreneurship, and supporting a plural, diverse and sustainable business fabric. 

To achieve it, services and activities are organised in the following action areas: Entrepreneurship; Business support; Employment; Training (being digital training core); Proximity; Business and Socioeconomic innovation. 

When promoting digital skills, Barcelona Activa provides a wide range of training and services adapted to different targets: 

  • Technological training: at various levels (basic, specialised and advanced) for professionals, companies and for all city residents.
  • Training for employment: to address the job seeking process with greater guarantees and to develop key professional skills.
  • Training for businesses: In areas including funding, business management, equality, marketing, sales, and so on.
  • Training for entrepreneurship: or strengthening a project with seminars on legal aspects, procedures, business management, etc.

Thus, Barcelona Activa is committed to boosting the technological skills of city residents and companies as a key factor in generating a more competitive Barcelona, better prepared for the challenges of the future and which eliminates any form of digital exclusion.

As per Technological Training, Barcelona Activa provides the following Technological training:

  • BASIC  Antenna, Short courses to get started and advance in the use of the internet and technology, to improve both professionally and in everyday life.
  • SPECIALISED, Short and medium-length courses on a variety of subjects aimed at employees, entrepreneurs and job-seekers.
  • ADVANCED, IT Academy, Intensive and mentored long-term training in Web Programming and Data Science. Once the training has been completed, Barcelona Activa then supports participants in the job seeking process. 
  • Ecole 42, a programming campus led by Fundación Telefónica, the government of Catalonia and Barcelona Activa, with a pioneering and disruptive pedagogical model based on peer-to-peer learning, gamification and self-learning.
