Dodona (dodona.be) is a free web application for learning computer programming, statistics and data science. It bridges the gap between assessment and learning by providing real-time data and feedback to help students learn better, teachers teach better, and educational technology become more effective. We lowered the barriers to widespread adoption to make computational thinking education accessible to a wide audience. This was established by following best practices and extensible approaches to software development, authentication, content management, assessment, security and interoperability. In addition, we took a holistic view on computer-assisted learning and computer-assisted teaching that encompasses all aspects of managing courses that involve programming assignments. The learning platform is open source and free to use.
