The Transformable Intelligent Environments Laboratory (TUC TIE Lab) is based at the School of Architectural Engineering at the Technical University of Crete in Greece. The mission of the Lab is to research, design and develop methodologies, and applications at the intersection of design thinking, digital technologies, maker culture, and circular economy. Through the Educational Pla(y)ces methodology, it has developed an extensive experience and significant know-how in the participatory design of learning objects and environments as well as in the training of people with little or no experience. Research carried out at the TIE Lab also involves the exploration of transformability and intelligence of spaces in order to create environments that respond better to the users’ activities within.
