The University of Crete is a young and dynamic academic institution committed to excellence in research & teaching. The University was established in 1973 and accepted its first students in 1977-78. It now has 16 Departments in 5 Faculties: Philosophy, Education, Social Sciences, Sciences & Engineering, and Medicine.
University of Crete is ranked #605 worldwide, #249 in Europe, and #4 of the 15 Universities ranked in Greece. In terms of research impact, as indicated by 'Normalized Citation Impact', the University ranks #446 worldwide.
The Center for Training and Lifelong Learning (ΚΕΔΙΒΙΜ) of the University of Crete is an independent structure of the Institution that ensures coordination and interdisciplinary cooperation for the development of continuing education, training and lifelong learning programmes in general.
All non-formal education and informal learning activities are implemented and officially certified through KEDIBIM. Continuing education, training and lifelong learning in general is offered in cooperation with universities or research centres in Greece, as well as certified/recognised higher education institutions abroad. The preparation and implementation of the programmes is based on the national and European institutional framework for lifelong learning.
