More than 17,000 students currently study at the university, which also employs more than 1,500 staff. Dublin City University has a strong focus on electronic and electrical engineering and computer science (one of the first programmes offered by the university). The University also has other faculties, with their related schools, in many key areas: Science and Health, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Education, and Business. Through its programme, DCU Connected, DCU involves more than 1,000 online distance learning students and a variety of online programmes on different levels.
