DigiEduHack

DigiEduHack is an initiative by the European Institute of Technology (EIT) within the framework of the European Commission's Digital Education Action Plan. The initiative is led by the EIT Climate, one of the 8 Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) of the EIT, and coordinated by the Finnish Aalto University. The goal of the initiative is to redefine learning through non-formal and vocational education with a strong focus on digital innovation. 

The Digital Education Hackathons were organised on a yearly basis in the form of a series of online and offline idea-hackathons happening all around the world over 2 days. The events were open and free for all and no background knowledge of coding necessary for participation. The hackathons were organised on a multilevel approach, with 50 challenges available to participants. The 3 solutions with the most public votes were declared Global Winners, and each winning team received a €5,000 award to enable further development of their solution.

DigiEduHack created a virtual environment and encompassed a global community, committed to continuous lifelong learning. Many ideas and solutions developed during the hackathons have been highlighted as having the potential to contribute to the development of skills in education. 
After several inspiring years of bringing together educators, learners, innovators, and organisations through educational hackathons around the world, the DigiEduHack initiative has now officially come to an end.

While the platform is closing, it is hoped that its legacy will continue to inspire new educational hackathons across Europe and beyond.
