Context

This topic is part of the Digital Europe Programme call “Advanced Digital Skills” and addresses the growing need for specialised digital competences in the healthcare sector, particularly in Artificial Intelligence. In line with EU priorities such as the AI Continent Action Plan and the Digital Decade targets, it aims to reduce the skills gap that limits the effective deployment of AI technologies in health systems. The topic supports the development of advanced training programmes co-designed by academia, industry, and healthcare stakeholders to ensure that professionals can meaningfully adopt and integrate AI solutions. By strengthening the AI-readiness of the healthcare workforce, it contributes to improved efficiency, innovation, and patient outcomes across European health systems.

Topics

Applicants must develop and deliver training programmes focused on AI in healthcare, including:

  • Technical AI skills (e.g. data science, programming, AI tools)

  • Application of AI in clinical and operational healthcare settings

  • Business and organisational aspects (e.g. AI adoption strategies)

  • Integration with EU health data infrastructure (e.g. HealthData@EU)

  • Collaboration with stakeholders such as universities, industry, and healthcare providers

Eligibility Criteria

  1. The proposal must be submitted by a consortium of at least 4 independent entities from 4 different eligible countries

  2. Applicants must be established in Member States or DEP-Associated countries

Funding

  • Budget per project: up to 3.9 million EUR

  • Total topic budget: 7.8 million EUR

  • Number of funded projects: 2

  • Funding rate: 50%
