13ª edition of the Portuguese Initiative of the Internet Governance Forum

Event location
Lisboa, lisboa, Portugal

The 13ª edition of the Portuguese Internet Governance Forum Initiative will take place on 30 June at the Picoas Forum in Lisbon.

The Portuguese Initiative of the Internet Governance Forum (IPFGI) is a national platform for dialogue that brings together all stakeholders/stakeholders, public and private, the technical and academic community and society in general to inform, reflect and discuss in an open and interactive way, how the Internet should be governed, a topic that is increasingly relevant in the national, regional and global panoramas.

IPFGI is part of the NRIs (National and Regional Igfss), initiatives framed in the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF). They are organised in Internet governance forums at national, sub-regional, regional and youth levels. The main criterion for defining a region is geographical (the case of EuroDIG for Europe), although in certain cases factors such as shared language and culture are also considered (the case of the Lusophone IGF).

The national reflection resulting from the discussion with all stakeholders culminates in a document entitled “Messages”, which feeds into the global debate at the annual IGF.

Between 2010 and 2016, this initiative was organised at national level as the Forum for the Information Society – Internet Governance, and in 2017 it became the “Portuguese Initiative on Internet Governance” and in 2018 the “Portuguese Initiative of the Internet Governance Forum”.
