2026 European Education and Skills Summit

Blended

The European Education and Skills Summit, the annual flagship event of the European Education Area (EEA), is back for its 2026 edition!

This year's theme, “Schools for tomorrow”, will allow participants to explore how Europe can build learning environments that are fit for the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

The Summit will bring together education stakeholders from across Europe to address the key challenges facing education today: from declining basic skills and teacher shortages to digital transformation and growing inequalities. Together, participants will explore how schools can equip learners with the skills and confidence they need for the future.

Experience the school for tomorrow

For the first time, the Summit will offer a fully interactive experience, which will bring the theme of “Schools for tomorrow” to life.

Beyond the plenary stages and discussion sessions, participants will get the chance to explore three interactive spaces that showcase solutions already shaping learning environments across Europe:

  • EdTech Avenue: innovative solutions from Europe’s community of education technology (EdTech) providers
  • Teachers and Students’ Playground: teachers and students showcasing real-life examples of forward-looking learning practices
  • Projects’ Village: inspiring EU actions and initiatives supporting innovation and the development of schools fit for the future

These spaces will give participants opportunities to visualise the future of education, exchange ideas and engage directly with educators, learners, innovators and project representatives.

Discussions driving the day

The Summit will focus on three discussion themes that are central to the future of education:

  • Strengthening basic skills and rethinking classroom learning
  • Empowering and valuing the teaching profession
  • Modernising education through digital transformation and sovereign infrastructure

Why this Summit matters

Education systems across Europe face significant challenges. Basic skills are declining, many countries face teacher shortages, and digital technologies (including AI) are rapidly transforming how we learn and work.

The Summit will address these challenges through a journey from vision to implementation. It will bring together all relevant stakeholders to discuss how European education can become more innovative, inclusive, and future-ready.

It will also act as a platform to showcase concrete, scalable solutions that support high-quality education systems across Europe, making them ready for the future.
